Job Summary:
Performs routine (journey-level) building maintenance and construction work. Work involves maintaining and repairing buildings, utility systems, and stationary equipment; and operating motorized equipment. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- May guide work of assigned assistants
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs maintenance, construction, and repair work such as masonry, welding, carpentry, painting, or mechanical work.
- Performs preventive maintenance on equipment, tools, and buildings.
- Operates and maintains motorized vehicles and equipment.
- May assist with the preventative maintenance and repair of machinery, equipment, utility systems, boilers, and boiler feed pumps.
- May assist with plumbing; electrical; or heating, ventilation, and air conditioning work.
- May repair equipment and fabricate parts for repairs.
- May maintain records on work orders or projects.
- May perform inspections of operating machinery, equipment, and utility systems to ensure efficient and safe operations.
- Securing and handling PO’s for job required purchases
- Completing assigned work tickets
- Performs related work as assigned.

- Operating equipment and utilizing tools/materials effectively;
- Understanding and following written and oral instructions;
- Using computers to enter and retrieve data, as required in area of assignment;
- Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, management, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction;
- Strenuous physical labor in sometimes adverse weather conditions, as relevant to area of assignment;
- Working effectively with clients, co-workers, employees and supervisors from diverse backgrounds.
- Bi-lingual skills a plus, but not required.
Experience and Education:
- Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is generally preferred..
- College degree preferred, but not required.
- 2 or more years of experience in construction, maintenance, and repair work.
- Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
Physical Requirements:
- Position may be medium or heavy work depending on assignment.
- Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects.
- Incumbents may be subject to travel.
- On occasion employees in this classification may be called back to work during unscheduled hours due to problems and emergencies..

Based upon assignment and competency level, specified licenses and/or certifications may be required.
