Supervisor: Golf Course Superintendent 

Job Summary:
Performs a variety of routine groundskeeping and equipment operating tasks in the maintenance of the County’s golf course. Works closely with the Superintendent and Foreman on any issues related to golf course maintenance.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintains golf course by mowing, trimming, top dressing, treating turf, maintenance of bunkers, hole changing, hedge trimming, and general maintenance.
  • Operates golf course equipment.
  • Participates in daily set up of the golf course for play.
  • Mows greens, tees, aprons and approaches to greens, roughs, and other areas of the golf course.
  • Aerifies greens, verticuts tees and greens, and spikes greens as assigned.
  • Prepare and plant sod and seed to greens, tees, and fairways as assigned.
  • Keeps golf course maintenance equipment fueled, oiled, and inspected.
  • Ensures a pleasant visit for each guest; maintains effective guest relations.
  • Performs special projects delegated by management.
  • Stays updated on latest developments pertinent to the department as well as the location. 
  • Performs related work as assigned.
  • Bi-lingual skills are a plus but not required. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Working knowledge of standard golf course maintenance practices.
  • Ability to operate and maintain a variety of reel-type mowers and other golf grounds maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to operate tractors, loaders, backhoes, and other large equipment.
  • Ability to perform a variety of unskilled to semi-skilled golf course maintenance duties.
  • Knowledge of safe and efficient use of all types of golf course equipment.

Experience and Education: 


• Possession of a high school diploma or an equivalent recognized certificate and three years of experience, including golf course maintenance activities or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Training in agronomy, horticultural operations, golf course maintenance, or a related area may be substituted for the required experience. 

Work Environment & Physical Requirements: 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands and fingers to handle or feel. 
    The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. 
    The employee is occasionally required to sit; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. 
    The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. 
    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Registration, Certification, or Licensure: 

  •  Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to drive various types of equipment, including golf carts and utility vehicles.
